The Metis Church of Winnipeg began services in 1980. Founding leaders were Jerry Grenier, Lilian Wozny, Elsie Monkman, Pat Thomas and Eleanore Prince. The congregation originated through outreach by the Conference of Mennonites in Canada.
The group was never an organized member congregation of the conference. The congregation dissolved in 1987. The language of worship was English.
The congregation met at Burrows Bethel Mennonite Church and in homes. Minister Jacob M. Unrau served in the 1980s as a congregational leader.
