Ulrich Perger, a weaver, an Anabaptist martyr, was beheaded in Wels in Upper Austria on 5 June 1528, with the baker Hans Neumair, the furrier Lienhard Haslinger, the mason Hans Steinbeck, the furrier Jörg Zacherle of Krems, the baker's assistant Jörg Kneutzinger, and two cobblers, both named Sebastian; their corpses were burned. The wives of the two furriers, Barbara Haslinger and Barbara Zacherle, were drowned on the following Monday; the execution of Hans Steinbeck's wife was postponed until after the birth of her child. Six Anabaptists who recanted were released.
