Hendrik Biesman (Henrick Byesman), an Anabaptist martyr, was put to death at Amsterdam on 6 March 1535, with eight others, among them Jan Paeuw. He was born in Maastricht, Dutch province of Limburg, where he associated with the Anabaptists in September 1534, and also held meetings in his house. He was arrested and tried at Maastricht on 28 October 1534; here he apparently recanted and was released. Soon after he probably went to Amsterdam, perhaps by way of Antwerp, where he also saw Anabaptists.
