Johannes Acronius, a physician and mathematician, was born in 1520 at [[Akkrum (Friesland, Netherlands)|Akkrum]] (Dutch province of [[Friesland (Netherlands)|Friesland]]) and died 18 October 1564 at [[Basel (Switzerland)|Basel]].
