Michiel Seyn (Syen), an Anabaptist martyr, drowned on 26 June 1562 at the Steen castle at Antwerp, Belgium, because he had been rebaptized (by Gillis van Aken) and "persisted in his rebaptism." Michiel was born at Dermonde (Dendermonde?) in Flanders and was a chair-bottomer by trade. A Mennonite family with the name Seijen or Seyen was found in Amsterdam and other Dutch towns in the 17th and 18th centuries.
