Machteit Dieric Jansdochter, an Anabaptist martyr, drowned in a wine cask on 26 August 1539, at Delft, Dutch province of South Holland, together with Marritgen Jansdochter from Deventer. Machtelt, who was apparently a follower of David Joris, is said to have been a native of "Luynen uit het Sticht van Monster"; this may mean either Schelluinen near Monster, Dutch province of South Holland, or Löhne in the Bishophic of Münster, Westphalia, Germany.
