Eje Clasen (Claasen)<strong> </strong>was, according to the title and foreword of one of his books, an unlearned preacher of the small Mennonite church at [[Humsterland (Groningen, Netherlands)|Humsterland]], west of [[Groningen (Groningen, Netherlands)|Groningen]] in [[Netherlands|Holland]]. He served from about 1780 until his death in 1813. He seems to have studied nature extensively and makes use of it in his sermons, of which he published Leerrede (1797), Tweetal leerredenen (Groningen, 1799), Drie Verhandelingen of leerredenen met Nareden over de beweging der aarde (Groningen, 1803).
