Dillsberg is a district near Heidelberg, Germany. The official register of Mennonites of 1759 names Muselmann and Bechtel in Langenzell, Horsch, Steiner, and Kaufmann in Mauer, Schellenberger and Brand in Angelloch, Neukomm in Schatthausen, a total of 78 persons of Swiss origin.
In about 1800 Martin and David Kaufmann lived at Daisbach. In 1802 that region was added to Baden and the Mennonites were generally accepted as citizens. At that time the complaint of the Kaufmann brothers concerning the continued levying of defense fees (see Nonresistance) was referred to the constitutional committee of Mannheim for final decision; a general order of 17 April 1802 granted release from protection fees.
