Boer (De Boer), a Dutch Mennonite family, descending from Hans Baur (Bauer) and Anna Willener, Swiss Mennonites, who migrated in 1711 from Oberhofen, [[Bern (Switzerland)|Swiss canton of Bern]], to [[Hoogezand-Sappemeer (Groningen, Netherlands)|Sappemeer]], Dutch province of [[Groningen (Netherlands)|Groningen]]. Here this family engaged in farming as they had in Switzerland. Their daughter Barbara married Peter Gerber, and their son Abraham married Trinette (Trijntje), daughter of the preacher Jacob Stähly.
