Sybrand Klaas Hulshoff, born 4 May 1849 at Leeuwarden, died 5 April 1897 at Utrecht, a son of Allard Hulshoff, studied medicine, then devoted himself to diseases of the eye and later after a journey abroad to pediatrics. The erection at Utrecht of the first children's hospital in Holland is due to his initiative; he served as its managing physician. He is also the author of several scientific studies.
