Steen Castle in 2005. Source: Wikipedia Commons

Steen (Het Steen, Den Steen), a castle on the Scheldt River at Antwerp, Belgium, was in the 16th century a prison and execution place of a large number of Anabaptist martyrs. At present it is a museum. The old dark cellars in which the martyrs were kept, often in heavy leg irons, may still be seen.
