Simon Fyts (Fijts) was a preacher of the Mennonite congregation on the Dutch island of Texel in 1569. The 1626 edition of the Dutch martyr book mentions that the accounts in this book on the martyrs Thijs Joriaensz, Jan Claesz van Weesp, and Jan Smit, which are reproduced in van Braght's Martyrs' Mirror (pages D 481, 641; E 823, 962), were given by Simon Fyts, who had visited Thijs and Jan Claesz in prison and observed their execution, and who was a close friend of Jan Smit. In 1606 he ordained Jan van der Voort as elder of the Flemish congregation at Utrecht. Further particulars about Fyts were not available
