Gerrit Boeckbinder (Geryt boeckebinder van Nyewenhuys), identical with Gerrit thorn Closter, a Dutch Anabaptist leader. In the fall of 1533 he was sent from Amsterdam to Münster bJan Matthijsz van Haarlem . He belonged to the revolutionary wing of Anabaptism, stayed for some time in Münster, but came back to Amsterdam. Here and at other places he baptized. Probably he was put to death at The Hague on 15 February 1535.
