Douwe Shoenmaker (Shoemaker) was a Dutch Anabaptist leader. Of his activity nothing is known but the fact that at Witmarsum, Friesland, he baptized Griet, the wife of Rein Edes, who was a sister of Menno Simons' wife. Douwe was a Münsterite, and Griet, troubled because she had been baptized by a revolutionary preacher, asked first Menno Simons and then Leenaert Bouwens to baptize her again. But both these elders refused to do so.
