Anthonis van Asselroye, a Flemish Anabaptist preacher and elder, was tortured and executed for his faith in 1550. Another martyr, Peter Bruynen, who suffered death in Antwerp in 1551, confessed that he had been baptized by Anthonis van Asselroye upon the confession of his faith. This Anthonis van Asselroye is identical with the elder, Theunis van Hastenrath.
