Hartmann Ammann (b. 21 June 1856), canon of the Augustinian Order, Gymnasium professor at [[Brixen (Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, Italy)|Brixen]] in [[Tyrol (Austria)|Tyrol]], published in the 46th and 47th programs of the <em>Gymnasium</em> at Brixen (1896 and 1897) a treatise with the title, <em>Die Wiedertäufer in Michelsberg im Pustertale und deren Urgichten</em> (124 pp.). In the presentation, the court records preserved in the f.b. court archives at Brixen were used. The confessions extorted from the [[Anabaptism|Anabaptists]], often by means of torture, reveal many details about the spread of the Anabaptist movement in Tyrol in the second and third quarters of the 16th century. The booklet contains valuable information about the success of Anabaptist leaders such as [[Hutter, Jakob (d. 1536)|Jakob Hutter]], [[Amon, Hans (d. 1542)|Hans Amon]], [[Griesinger, Onophrius (d. 1538)|Offrus Griesinger]] and [[Lanzenstiel, Leonhard (d. 1565)|Leonhard Lanzenstiel]].
