Stephan Zehender, an Anabaptist martyr of Pyrmensdorf, Switzerland, an aged man, was imprisoned in 1539 in the Oethenbach prison of Zürich "in a very damp and unwholesome place, . . . and fed on bread and water" for sixteen weeks, until his death.
