Christiaan Nicolaas Wybrands (Wijbrans), born 24 March 1852 at [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]], died there 16 August 1913, educated at the [[Amsterdam Mennonite Theological Seminary (Kweekschool)|Amsterdam Mennonite seminary]], served the congregations of Noordeind van Graft 1877-1878, [[Edam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Edam]] 1878-1881, [[IJlst (Friesland, Netherlands)|IJlst]] 1881-1884, [[Westzaan (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Westzaan-Zuid]] 1884-1886, and [[Enschede (Overijssel, Netherlands)|Enschede]] 1886-1898. In 1898 he retired because of his health. Particularly at Enschede he was very active. He was the promoter of the founding of the Mennonite congregation of Gronau, which formerly belonged to the Enschede congregation. Through his initiative the weak [[Zwolsche Fonds|Zwolsche Fonds]] (fund for the pensioning of widows of Mennonite pastors) was united in 1897 with the [[Fonds tot Ondersteuning van Weduwen en Weezen|Fonds tot Ondersteuning]].

Among the many publications of C. N. Wybrands are a few papers in the [[Doopsgezinde Bijdragen|Doopsgezinde Bijdragen]], e.g., a study on the congregation of Noordeind van Graft (1878), and one on the congregation of Edam (1887). In [[Zondagsbode, De|De Zondagsbode]] he published articles on the Anslo family (XII, Nos. 16-21), on [[Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn (1607-1669)|Rembrandt]] (XIX, Nos. 35-41), and particularly on "[[Menniste Zusje (Flowering Plant)|Het Menniste Zusje]]" (XV, Nos. 42-52, and XVI, Nos. 1-10). Of this "Het Menniste Zusje" an enlarged and illustrated edition was published in Verslag Koninklijke Oudheidkundig Genootschap, 1913.
