Vorwärts was a weekly eight-page periodical, published as a community German language newspaper at [[Hillsboro (Kansas, USA)|Hillsboro]], Kansas, 1910-1940. The newspaper had its background in the Hillsboro Presse published by the Central Publishing Company, beginning in 1900, later called Hillsboro Journal (German). Under the editorship of [[Ewert, Jacob G. (1874-1923)|Jacob G. Ewert]] the name of the periodical was changed to Vorwärts in 1910 and to Hillsboro Vorwärts in 1932. In 1913 the publishing interests of the [[Mennonite Brethren Church|Mennonite Brethren]] were moved from McPherson to Hillsboro. With the move [[Schellenberg, Abraham L. (1869-1941)|A. L. Schellenberg]], editor of [[Zionsbote (Periodical)|Zionsbote]] and [[Deutsche Westen, Der|Der Deutsche Westen]], took over the editorship of Vorwärts, continuing until August 1919 and again 1922-1930. By 1919 the periodical had 5,500 subscribers in and around Hillsboro as well as among Mennonite Brethren generally. J. D. Fast served as editor 1919-22, and during the final ten years P. H. Berg took over editorial duties. In the latter thirties an increasing amount of space was given to the English language and early in 1940 the name was changed to [[Hillsboro Journal (Periodical)|Hillsboro Journal]].
