Peter married Anna Enss (23 April 1855, Beiershorst, Grosswerder, Prussia - 23 April 1914, Tiefengrund, Saskatchewan) on 16 December 1873 in Tiegenort, Prussia. Peter was an estate holder in Rückenau, Prussia and was elected to the ministry of the Rosenorter Mennonite Church on 7 September 1879. He accepted the call on 18 June 1880. Peter received special exemption from armed duty and was able to serve in the army medical service. After the army he accepted election and was ordained as elder by his father of the Rosenorter Mennonite Church on 1 July 1888 (his father Peter was elder of the Fürstenwerder Mennonite Church).<br />
