'']] Neuburg an der Donau (Neuburg on the Danube; coordinates: 48° 44′ 0″ N, 11° 11′ 0″ E), the former capital of the duchy of Pfalz-Neuburg, in which [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] teachings were spread very early. [[Otto Heinrich, Elector Palatine of the Rhine (1502-1559)|Otto Heinrich, Count Palatine]], on 28 January 1528 issued an order against the "new Christians." According to the chronicles of the [[Hutterian Brethren (Hutterische Brüder)|Hutterian Brethren]] three Anabaptists were executed for their faith in Neuburg in the 16th century, among them the successful preacher [[Andreas von Neiss (16th century)|Andreas of Neiss]]. Southwest of Neuburg the [[Maxweiler (Freistaat Bayern, Germany)|Maxweiler Mennonite settlement]] was started in 1802; its inhabitants emigrated to America about the middle of the 19th century.
