Herman Nestler, who was born in 1879, was a teacher at the Gymnasium in Regensburg, [[Bayern Federal State (Germany)|Bavaria]], [[Germany|Germany]], and superintendent of education in [[Passau (Freistaat Bayern, Germany)|Passau]], author of the meritorious book, Die Täuferbewegung in Regensburg; Ein Ausschnitt aus der Regensburger Reformationsgeschichte (Regensburg, 1926). This book relates in detail the rise of the [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] movement in Regensburg and its suppression. The numerous court records of Anabaptist trials (82 in number) in the Regensburg city archives are especially valuable; they are given verbatim.
