Heinrich Janzen: elder; born around 1752 in [[Prussia|Prussia]], most likely in the [[Lithuania|Lithuania]] area. He and his wife Maria had seven known children: Anna, Peter, Heinrich, Jacob, Eva, Abraham, and Aganetha. Heinrich died in 1824 in [[Schönwiese (Chortitza Mennonite Settlement, Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Schönwiese]], Chortitza Mennonite Settlement, South Russia.

Heinrich most likely immigrated to the [[Chortitza Mennonite Settlement (Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Chortitza Mennonite Settlement]] in 1794 with a number of other Lithuanian Mennonite families (although B. H. Unruh identifies him as a Rosenkranzer -- a small group of people from the [[Tragheimerweide (Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland)|Tragheimerweide]] area, many of whom were residents of the village of Rosenkranz). Heinrich settled in the village of Schönwiese. He was elected to serve as a minister of the [[Kronsweide Mennonite Church (Kronsweide, Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Kronsweide Mennonite Church]] in January 1797 and was elected [[Elder (Ältester)|Elder (Ältester)]] in June 1797 (Unruh gives an election year of 1795 while others like Klassen give the year as 1800) after the church had been without an elder since the death of Kornelius Froese in 1794. Janzen served the [[Frisian Mennonites|Frisian]] villages throughout Chortitza and also ministered on numerous occasions in the [[Molotschna Mennonite Settlement (Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Molotschna Mennonite Settlement]], where he also participated in elders meetings. He conducted the first election for an elder in the [[Kleine Gemeinde|Kleine Gemeinde]] when [[Reimer, Klaas (1770-1837)|Klaas Reimer]] was elected in 1815, and he also served [[Communion|communion]] to the young church. Janzen passed away shortly before Christmas in 1824 after preaching in the morning service and suffering a stroke that evening.
