The Hans Reyst-volk were followers of [[Reist, Hans (17th/18th century)|Hans Reist]] of the [[Emmental (Switzerland)|Emmental]], the leader of the main body of Swiss Mennonites who refused to follow [[Ammann, Jakob (17th/18th century) |Ammann]] in 1693. Hans Reyst-volk were among the Swiss Mennonite immigrants in the [[Netherlands|Netherlands]] in the 18th century. The name died out since the group considered itself the main body of Swiss Mennonites, treating the [[Amish|Amish]] as the separated group. Hence of the two parties at the time of the Amish schism the Reist following continued as the main body.
