Johannes Acronius, a physician and mathematician, was born in 1520 at [[Akkrum (Friesland, Netherlands)|Akkrum]] (Dutch province of [[Friesland (Netherlands)|Friesland]]) and died 18 October 1564 at [[Basel (Switzerland)|Basel]]. He was a friend of [[David Joris (ca. 1501-1556)|David Joris]], published Joris's ideas in forty-five aphrorisms and also an account of his life and court trial, titled Ad N.N. popularem epistola, d.d. 28 Julii 1559.
