Abrams (Abrahams) was a family name found among the Mennonites in the [[Frisian Mennonites|Frisian]] congregations of [[West Prussia]]. It is derived from the first name Abraham (Abram). In West Prussia six families of this name were counted in 1776 (without Danzig). Members of the Abrams family did not migrate to [[Russia]] until 1818. After that five families are known to have immigrated. In West Prussia and during the early years in Russia the name Abraham(s) was used. Later in Russia and in the Americas the name Abrams dominates.
