Frederik Toger, born ca. 1665 at [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]], died 11 March 1720, at [[Leiden (Zuid-Holland, Netherlands)|Leiden]], obtained his M.D. degree at the Leiden University in 1699 with a dissertation on "The Plague." He was then a practicing physician and in 1694-1717 also a Mennonite preacher at Leiden, Holland, 1694-1701 in the [[Waterlanders|Waterlander]] congregation and, after the merger of this church with the [[Flemish Mennonites|Flemish]], of the United congregation. Schijn's surmise that he had been a preacher at [[Brielle (Zuid-Holland, Netherlands)|Brielle]] 1691-1694 has not been substantiated. Toger published <em>De lijdzaamheid en vergelding der Heiligen</em> (Leiden, 1703), an address on I Peter 3:6, in which he, in a learned manner, describes the meekness and the reward of the righteous; his <em>Bondig Zamenstel der christelyke Godgeleerdheid</em> was edited after his death by his friend [[Loon, Abraham van (1656-1725)|Abraham van Loon]] and published in 1726 at Leiden; reprinted at Leiden in 1738 under the title <em>Samenstel der christelyke godgeleerdheid</em>. It contains six volumes. The first five volumes deal in several chapters with the doctrines of [[God (Trinity), Doctrine of|God]], man, and [[Christology|Jesus Christ]]; the sixth in fourteen chapters discusses the Christian faith, [[Regeneration|regeneration]], good works, [[Conversion|conversion]], [[Justification|justification]], [[Baptism|baptism]], [[Communion|communion]], the [[Oath|oath]], [[Government, Theory and Theology of|government]], war, [[Death and Dying|death]], the [[Resurrection|resurrection]], judgment, bliss, and damnation.
