Petrovka, a Mennonite settlement in [[Russia|Russia]], a part of the group of villages called Naumenko in the province of [[Kharkov (Ukraine)|Kharkov]], Ukraine, had joined the [[Einlage Mennonite Brethren Church (Einlage, Chortitza Mennonite Settlement, Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Men]][[Einlage Mennonite Brethren Church (Einlage, Chortitza Mennonite Settlement, Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|nonite Brethren of Einlage]] (Kitchkas), the home of their founders, as a subsidiary. In Petrovka and [[Barvenkovo (Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine)|Barvenkovo]] the settlement had churches. Inadequate connections with the mother church, sharp conlicts with the higher and lower authorities as well as with the [[Kirchliche Mennoniten|Mennonite (Kirchliche Mennoniten) Church]] group, combined with economic decline had at times an unfavorable effect on the religious and the intellectual life of this settlement.
