Jodocus van Lodenstein was a Dutch theologian, born 6 February 1620 at [[Delft (Zuid-Holland, Netherlands)|Delft]] and died 3 August 1677 at [[Utrecht (Utrecht, Netherlands)|Utrecht]], a man of profound influence on the Dutch Reformed Church by his earnestness, sincere piety, and untiring effort. He was an outstanding hymn writer; some of his hymns were adopted into the Mennonite hymnals.
