The Peace of Kaaden was a treaty of peace signed at Kaaden on the Eger in [[Bohemia (Czech Republic)|Bohemia]] on 29 June 1534, by [[Philipp I, Landgrave of Hesse (1504-1567)|Philip of Hesse]] and [[Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor (1503-1564)|King Ferdinand]] of [[Austria|Austria]], by which [[Ulrich, Duke of Württemberg (1487-1550)|Duke Ulrich of Württemberg]] regained his land. This treaty was of great importance to Lutheranism by sanctioning for Württemberg the achievements of the peace of [[Nürnberg (Freistaat Bayern, Germany)|Nürnberg]]; "but all [[Sacramentists|Sacramentists]], [[Anabaptism|Anabaptists]], and all other new unchristian sects. . . shall not be tolerated in the land." Thereby Anabaptists were for several centuries prohibited from living in Württemberg, although this law was not strictly enforced.
