Jacob Pieter Jacobszoon was pastor of the Mennonite congregations in [[Oldeboorn (Friesland, Netherlands)|Oldeboorn]] (1951), [[IJmuiden (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|IJmuiden]] (1956), and Haarlem (1959). From 1966 to 1967 he was visiting lecturer at [[Eastern Mennonite University (Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA)|Eastern Mennonite College]], Harrisonburg, VA. From 1981 until his death he was professor at the [[Amsterdam Mennonite Theological Seminary (Kweekschool)|Amsterdam Mennonite Theological Seminary]], being particularly responsible for the studies of students admitted to the "Second Way" established in 1979 ([[Algemene Doopsgezinde Societeit|Algemene Doopsgezinde Sociëteit]]). He was particularly well informed in the area of [[Pietism|Pietism]], having written his thesis on the Amsterdam pastor Joannes Deknatel, a friend of [[Zinzendorf, Count Nicholas Ludwig von (1700-1760)|Count Nicholas von Zinzendorf]].
