Hoosen (Hoozen, Hoose, Hose) is a Mennonite family, which according to tradition emigrated in the 17th century from [[Switzerland|Switzerland]] to [[Giethoorn (Overijssel, Netherlands)|Giethoorn]], in the Dutch province of [[Overijssel (Netherlands)|Overijssel]]. Some of the members served as preachers and elders of the [[Danzig Old Flemish Mennonites|Danzig Old Flemish]] congregation of Giethoorn ("Noord"), i.e., Jan Hoosen 1744-1769 (?), and both his sons, Gerrit Jans Hoosen 1796 (?)-1812 (?) and Pieter Jans Hoosen about 1802-?. Jan Jansz. Hoosen of Giethoorn, who is not the same person as the foregoing elder of Giethoorn, but likely also a son, was elder of the Swiss emigrant congregation at [[Kampen (Overijssel, Netherlands)|Kampen]] about 1805-1822. He was a shoemaker, who was born 1758 at Giethoorn and died there 1834.
