View source for Hans Corneliszoon (d. 1577)

Hans (Jan) Corneliszoon (Hans de Ruytere), an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr, born at Rheden near [[Arnhem (Gelderland, Netherlands)|Arnhem]], Dutch province of Gelderland, burned at the stake at [[Antwerp (Belgium)|Antwerp]], Belgium, on 4 January 1577. He was charged with having been rebaptized and delivering addresses. He was thus apparently a preacher. According to the account of van Braght (<em>[[Martyrs' Mirror]]</em>) his wife and daughter were executed with him, but Ge'nard did not find them in the records.
