View source for Gillis Schrijver (16th century)

Gillis Schrijver, a Mennonite elder of Flanders, [[Belgium|Belgium]], came several times in 1566-1567 to Harlingen, Dutch province of [[Friesland (Netherlands)|Friesland]], in order to settle the [[Flemish Mennonites|Flemish]]-[[Frisian Mennonites|Frisian]] quarrel. In the 17th century a Schrijver family is found in the [[Netherlands|Netherlands]], one of whom was [[Schrijver, Pieter Arends (1665-1742)|Pieter Schrijver]], a Mennonite preacher at Hoorn and [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]].
