Gerhard J. Gäde (Gaede), born in the [[Molotschna Mennonite Settlement (Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Molotschna settlement]], [[Russia|Russia]], attended the Gnadenfeld Zentralschule, taught at [[Lichtfelde (Molotschna Mennonite Settlement, Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Lichtfelde]], Molotschna, and later at the [[Davlekanovo Zentralschule (Ufa, Bashkortostan, Russia)|Davlekanovo Zentralschule]], [[Ufa (Bashkortostan, Russia)|Ufa]]. In 1911-1915 he taught at the [[Omsk Mennonite Zentralschulen|Omsk Zentralschule]], Siberia. In 1925 he attended the [[Allgemeine Bundeskonferenz der Mennonitengemeinden in Russland|Mennonite General Conference]] (Bundeskonferenz) in [[Moscow (Russia) |Moscow]]. He was a very gifted educator with artistic inclinations and a severe critic of the weaknesses in Mennonite culture and practice.
