Karl Friedrichsen was born in the Crimea on 6 January 1879. He graduated from a Zentralschule and the Bible school of St. Chrischona near [[Basel (Switzerland)|Basel]], [[Switzerland|Switzerland]], was principal of the [[Spat Zentralschule (Spat, Crimea, Ukraine) |Karassan Zentralschule]], [[Crimea (Ukraine)|Crimea]], and member of the [[Busau Mennonite Church (Busau, Crimea, Ukraine)|Busau Mennonite Church]], where he also served as a minister after 1905. He was ordained 31 May 1911. In 1913-1922 he was instructor of religion at the [[Davlekanovo Zentralschule (Ufa, Bashkortostan, Russia)|Davlekanovo Zentralschule]] at [[Ufa (Bashkortostan, Russia)|Ufa]]. After his resignation he founded the [[Mayak Bible School (Ufa, Russia)|Davlekanovo Bible School]], which, however, had to be closed soon because of religious persecution. The last years of his life he spent at [[Zaporizhia (Ukraine)|Zaporozhe]], [[Ukraine|Ukraine]], with his daughter. Occasionally he served the Mennonites of Einlage as minister (1935-1936). When his daughter Marianne was exiled in 1941, he had already passed away after a long illness.
