<span>Jan van Dijk (Dijck) was a Dutch Mennonite minister who served the </span>[[Zonists|Zonist]]<span> congregation at </span>[[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]]<span> from 1664 until his death in 1678. He was the author of <em>Noodtwendich Bericht tot Openinge der tegenwoordighe onlusten . . . in de Gemeente der Doopsgezinde . . . binnen Amsterdam </em>(Amsterdam, 1663), and <em>Antwoort op de Wederlegging van het Nootwendich Bericht . . . </em>(Amsterdam, 1664). In both booklets van Dijk shows himself as a champion of the views of the conservatives among the </span>[[Flemish Mennonites|Flemish]]<span> congregation of Amsterdam, usually called de Ouderen, and an ardent antagonist of [[Galenus Abrahamsz de Haan (1622-1706)|Galenus Abrahamsz]] and his principles. The latter book was directed against a booklet of [[Balling, Pieter (17th century)|Pieter Balling]], <em>Verdediging van de Regeering der Doopsgez. gemeente . . . </em>(Amsterdam, 1663), in which van Dijk's <em>Nootwendich Bericht </em>was opposed and the <em>Ouderen </em>had been accused of partiality, backwardness, and defamation. In 1665 van Dijk, about whose life nothing was available, signed the <em>Verbondt van Eenigheydt</em>, an agreement of the conservatives, which stressed the outstanding confessions of faith. </span>
