The Conference Resource Library (formerly Western District Loan Library) functions under the supervision of the [[Western District Conference (Mennonite Church USA)|Western District Conference]] Resource Commission (formerly Education Committee). It was begun in 1936 largely through the efforts of Abram Warkentin, then on the staff of [[Bethel College (North Newton, Kansas, USA)|Bethel College]]. Through gifts and purchase the library was developed until in 1959 it had 3,400 volumes for loan; in 2009 it had over 12,000 items316-283-6300. At the beginning it was housed by Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas.
