Paul Burckhardt (b. 9 January 1873, d. 6 May 1956) was principal of a Töchterschule at [[Basel (Switzerland)|Basel. He was]] author of the excellent book, <em>Die Basler Täufer. Ein Beitrag zur Schweizerischen Reformationsgeschichte </em>(Basel, 1898), which presented an account of the [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] movement in the canton of Basel until the 19th century, based on thorough research. In 1949 he published <em>David Joris und seine Gemeinde in Basel, </em>106 pp., a reprint from <em>Basler Zeitschrift für Geschichte und Altertumskunde. </em>
