Van Beek (Beeck) is a widely ramified Dutch Mennonite family, found from the early 17th century at [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]] and [[Haarlem (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Haarlem]], and also at [[Utrecht (Netherlands)|Utrecht]]. Most of them were well-to-do merchants. In Amsterdam some belonged to the [[Lamist Mennonite Church (Amsterdam, Netherlands)|Lamist church]], and some to the [[Zonists|Zonist]]s. Dirk van Beek, d. 21 October 1762, of Amsterdam, was a Mennonite minister at [[Schiedam (Zuid-Holland, Netherlands)|Schiedam]] 1722-1726 and [[Rotterdam (Zuid-Holland, Netherlands)|Rotterdam]] 1726-1753, in which year he retired. As secretary of the Rotterdam church board he was active in supporting the Mennonites who emigrated from the [[Palatinate (Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany)|Palatinate]], [[Germany|Germany]], to America via Rotterdam.
