View source for Barent Dircksz (b. ca. 1488)

Barent Dircksz (also called Doove Barent), a Dutch painter, who made six large panels for the old town hall in [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]], representing the revolt of the [[Anabaptism|Anabaptists]] <em>(Wederdooper-oproer) </em>in this city 10-11 May 1535. These pictures were moved to the new town hall in 1655, but shortly after vanished without a trace. A sketch of the pictures is found in the Library of the University of [[Göttingen (Niedersachsen, Germany)|Göttingen]], [[Germany|Germany]].
