Arnold, Eberhard C. H. ("Hardy ") Arnold, b. 18 August 1912 in Halle a. d. the Saale, [[Germany|Germany]]. Hardy Arnold was the eldest son of [[Arnold, Eberhard (1883-1935)|Eberhard Arnold]] and [[Arnold, Emmy von Hollander (1884-1980)|Emmy (von Hollander) Arnold]]. He died at the New Meadow Run [[Bruderhof|Bruderhof]] on 2 November 1987. He was raised in [[Berlin (Germany)|Berlin]], Sannerz, and the [[Rhönbruderhof (Hessen, Germany)|Rhönbruderhof]], and studied at universities in Tubingen, [[Zürich (Switzerland)|Zürich]], and Birmingham, England. He lived at [[Primavera Hutterite Colony (Paraguay)|Primavera]], [[Paraguay|Paraguay]], then immigrated to the [[United States of America|United States]] in 1958. He was married to Edith Boecker; they had four children. After Edith's death he married Martha (Sekunda) Kleiner. He was confirmed in the Service of the Word <em>([[Diener am Wort|Diener am Wort]]), </em>by the visiting [[Schmiedeleut|Schmiedeleut]] Hutterite Servant of the Word, [[Hofer, David (1877-1941)|David Hofer]] of [[James Valley Hutterite Colony (Elie, Manitoba, Canada)|James Valley]] (Manitoba) Bruderhof, on 13 September 1937, at the [[Cotswold Bruderhof (Ashton Keynes, Wiltshire, England)|Cotswold Bruderhof]] in [[England|England]]. He was editor at the Plough Publishing House, where his responsibilities included the periodicals <em>Der Pflug </em>(1938-39), and <em>The Plough </em>(1938-40). He served the [[Society of Brothers|Society of Brothers]] as a prolific translator and editor until his death. The most important published works that he edited and translated were: <em>Rechenschaft unserer Religion, Lehr und Glaubens ... durch Peter Riedemann </em>(Ashton Keynes, England, 1938), which he also translated as <em>Confession of Faith: Account of Our Religion, Doctrine and Faith, Given by Peter Riedemann ... </em>(Hodder and Stoughton, Great Britain, 1950); <em>The Early Christians After the Death of the Apostles </em>(Rifton, NY, 1970), a translation of Eberhard Arnold 's <em>Die ersten Christen nach dem Tode der Apostel </em>(Sannerz and Berlin, 1926); <em>Am Anfang war die Liebe: Dokumente, Briefe und Texte der Urchristen </em>(Wiesbaden, 1986<em>), </em>a new edition of <em>Die ersten Christen. </em>He was co-editor of Eberhard and Emmy Arnold, <em>Seeking for the Kingdom of God: Origins of the Bruderhof Communities </em>(Rifton, NY, 1974); wrote "Eberhard Arnold, 1883-193(5): A Short Biography," <em>Mennonite Quarterly Review </em>25 (1951): 219-221; edited Eberhard Arnold, "On the History of the Baptizer Movement in Reformation Times," ''Mennonite Quarterly Review'' 43 (1969): 213-33; and coauthored <em>For the Sake of Divine Truth </em>(Rifton, NY, 1974).
