Pieter Keurlis was<strong> </strong>one of the first German immigrants to America (13 families from [[Krefeld (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany)|Krefeld]]), who landed in [[Pennsylvania (USA)|Pennsylvania]] on 6 October 1683, and founded [[Germantown Mennonite Settlement (Pennsylvania, USA)|Germantown]]. He acquired 200 acres of land from[[Telner, Jacob (17th century)| J. Telner]], and was the first German bartender in America. He was a Krefeld Quaker, formerly a Mennonite.
