Western Book and Publishing Company was organized by [[Krehbiel, Henry Peter (1862-1940)|H. P. Krehbiel]] when he moved the [[Review, The (Periodical)|&lt;em&gt;Review&lt;/em&gt;]] to [[Newton (Kansas, USA)|Newton]], Kansas, from Canton, Ohio in December 1900 and bought the rights to <em>Das Kansas Volksblatt</em> from the Kansan Company which had acquired this periodical from W. J. Krehbiel and [[Goerz, David (1849-1914)|David Goerz]] in 1899.

H. P. Krehbiel, manager, was joined by [[Krehbiel, Christian Emmanuel (1869-1948)|C. E. Krehbiel]] in 1901, who served as secretary of the company. The <em>Review</em> was continued through 1904. The [[Post und Volksblatt (Periodical)|&lt;em&gt;Post und Volksblatt&lt;/em&gt;]] began publication in 1904 with H. P. and C. E. Krehbiel as editors. In 1909 the <em>Post und Volksblatt</em> was discontinued and the Western Book and Publishing Company reorganized as the [[Herold Book and Publishing Company (Newton, Kansas, USA)|Herold Book and Publishing Company]].
