The Bannmann (Bahnmann, Banman) Mennonite family name was originally found most often in the [[Thiensdorf and Preußisch Rosengart Mennonite Church (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Poland)|Thiensdorf]] [[Frisian Mennonites|Frisian]] congregation, [[West Prussia|West Prussia]], near [[Elbing (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Poland)|Elbing]]. Some members of the family moved to the [[Molotschna Mennonite Settlement (Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)|Molotschna settlement]] in [[Russia|Russia]] and later immigrated to the [[United States of America|United States]] and [[Canada|Canada]].
