Aecht Melis, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr, captured at [[Krommeniedijk (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Krommeniedijk]] in the Dutch province of [[North Holland (Netherlands)|North Holland]], was put to death after horrible torture, presumably in 1534 (1542, the date given in the <em>[[Martyrs' Mirror|Martyrs Mir]]</em>[[Martyrs' Mirror|&lt;em&gt;ror&lt;/em&gt;]]<em>, </em>is wrong in any case), along with several other brethren and sisters, including her husband, [[Willem (d. 1534?)|Willem]].
