Johannes Tayus, (d. 1630), a Dutch Reformed pastor, who in 1601, when he was pastor at [[Brouwershaven (Zeeland, Netherlands)|Brouwershaven]] in the province of [[Zeeland (Netherlands)|Zeeland]], wrote <em>Proeve van de Leere der Wederdooperen . . . in elf poincten. Daerby een corte weerlegghinge</em> . . . (Leiden, 1601). The source of Tayus for his opposition to the Mennonites was the <em>Protocol</em> of the [[Leeuwarden Disputation (1596)|Leeuwarden Disputation]] of 1596. Tayus referred only to the arguments of the Reformed disputants, neglecting the Mennonite arguments.
