Gerard van Velzen (b. 1697), a Reformed minister at Waaxens in [[Friesland (Netherlands)|Friesland]], Netherlands, in 1741 anonymously published a booklet, <em>Noodtwendige Voorzorg der Edele mogende Heren Staten der Provincie van Vriesiandt tegen de inkruipende Socinianerye</em> . . . , attacking the <em>Deductie</em> drawn up by J. Stinstra. Van Velzen exhorted his "brethren in Christ, preachers and members of the Mennonite congregations in Friesland, by whatever names they may be called,"to hold to ‘the God of their fathers, the Trinitarian God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost.’"
