Zuiderklasse (South group), an association of Mennonite churches in the southwest of the Dutch province of Friesland, founded in 1709 and embracing the congregations of Hindeloopen, Koudum, Warns, Staveren, Bakhuizen, Workum, Makkum, Bolsward, Santfirderrijp, and Molkwerum. It was a kind of independent conference within the Mennonite Conference of Friesland (FDS). For some time it did not participate in the activities of the FDS, holding its own Zuiderklasse meetings. In 1772 it resolved to co-operate in conference activities again, though it held exceptional rights as to subsidizing. These exceptions were abolished in 1841 and the Zuiderklasse dissolved. A special aim of the Zuiderklasse was to give mutual aid in cases of a vacant pulpit in one of its members, which soon after its dissolving was taken over by the Ring Bolsward.
