Youth's Christian Companion, founded in 1920, was until the end of 1956 an 8-page, 9 x 11.5 in. and thereafter a 16-page 5.25 x 8.5 in. weekly devoted to the interest of young people, ages 16-24, published and printed by the Mennonite Publishing House, Scottdale, PA. Until 31 December 1954, Clayton F. Yake was its continuous editor from the beginning of the paper. On 1 January 1955, Urie A. Bender became editor.

The periodical endeavors to serve young people in all areas of Christian life, with Christian fiction, feature articles, poetry, missionary messages, information of church activities, such as Mennonite Youth Fellowship (MYF), Mennonite Relief and Service Committee (MRSC), I-W, news for youth, schools and colleges, articles on nature and science, vocational guidance, and other inspirational messages for the development of Christian character and the devotional life. The 1958 circulation was about 34,000.
